A group of Buddhist monks bought 600 pounds of lobster just so they can drop them back into the ocean.
The monks of Canada, bought the lobster from different locations around Prince Edward Island.
The monks from the Great Enlightenment Buddhist Institute Society, then
held a ceremony during which they prayed over the sea creatures.
They then removed all the rubbers that were holding the lobster. They
placed the dozens of cases of lobster on a boat, and they released each
one lovingly back into the sea.
Although the monks are vegan, they said that their actions were not
meant to encourage people to become vegan, but instead, they did it to
teach people to be more compassionate.
โWe respect everyone’s dietary choice, so we’re not doing this to convert everybody to be vegetarians or vegans,โ they said.
โThis purpose is to cultivate compassion. It doesn’t have to be lobster,
it can be worms, flies or any other animal,โ they added.
The monks want people to โdrive slower so not to run over little critters on the street.โ
