Police began an investigation after a man refused to give up his pet alligator that loves to eat pizza and cookies.
David Van Buren of Florida, loves his pet alligator named Gwendolyn, which he received when he was just 9 years old.
The 47-year-old alligator never left Van Buren’s side and it was taken along when he went to college many years ago.
This is not the first time that fish and wildlife officials have tried
to take the alligator from Van Buren. 22 years ago, they confiscated the
alligator, but a judge ordered the pet to be returned to its owner.
Now, fish and wildlife officials informed Van Buren that the alligator
that he had as a pet for nearly five decades has grown too big to roam
in his backyard and swimming pool.
They want Van Buren to either give up his pet or get a bigger property.
