Photos: Check out this awesome natural sight

In these beautiful images captured in Shikoku, Japan, fireflies can be seen at night in mesmerising display, like if God himself were playing with light. Photographer Kei Nomiyama, 36, has visited the area every year since 2012 to capture the enchanting images. See more lovely images below…

Fireflies produce their stunning glow through a chemical reaction called bioluminescence, which usually occurs in organs in the insect’s lower abdomen. The insects contain a light-emitting compound called luciferin, which is what gives them their distinctive glow.
