The Federal Roads Safety Commission, FRSC, in Sokoto State, said that one person died, while 17 others sustained injuries in an accident that occurred along Sokoto and Sabon-Garin Kwannawa road, yesterday.
Mr. Kuteb Takum, Sector Commander of the commission in the state, who confirmed the accident, said the victims were returning from a ceremony at Sabon-Garin Kwannawa, on the outskirt of Sokoto.
He said: “The driver of a pick-up van, marked Edo XF 739 BEN, who is now on the run, lost control of the vehicle while on Kwannawa-Sokoto highway.
“The van somersaulted several times after the driver lost control of the vehicle and veered off the road at about 10a.m.”
