Student, Lover Sell Baby For N620,000… Police Rescue Him, Arrest Buyer

A baby sold for N620,000 by its mother, a student of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede, and her boyfriend has been rescued by the police.

According to a Sun News report, Vivian Iwuji, who  gave birth to a baby boy on August 2, 2014 decided to sell the baby with the assistance of her boyfriend, Obinna Ugochukwu.

Vivian told her parents that her baby had died at birth.

But the truth came to light after the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of the Imo State Police Command, Owerri,  arrested the buyer, identified as Ehegalara Edwin.

Vivian’s father, Mr Patrick Iwuji doubted that the baby had actually died at birth.

“She told  us that she was going to the hospital  to deliver and when we visited her, we asked her about the baby,” he said.

“She told us that the baby was dead.”

The father said then reported the case to the police.

“It was there that my own daughter  with her boyfriend confessed that they sold the baby boy  in the sum of N620,000 to one  Ehegalara Edwin,” Ikwuji added.

The police handed the rescued baby to Ikwuji on August 11, 2014 at the Imo State Police Headquarters, Owerri.
