The Senate Minority Leader, Biodun Olujimi, on Tuesday said members of the Peoples Democratic Party who defected from the party in Ekiti State would soon return as moves aimed at resolving internal wrangling in the party had started.

Olujimi appealed to PDP members not to be disenchanted by the party’s dismal performance in the 2019 general elections, but remain steadfast and committed.

She said the lingering internal crisis in the party contributed to the poor outing coupled with electoral malpractices.

The senator, who had filed a petition before the election petitions tribunal to challenge her loss in the February 23 senatorial election, said the general elections in Ekiti State were fraught with electoral irregularities.

She said, “The electoral exercise was not free, fair and credible but characterised with electoral fraud.

“In Ekiti, it was daylight robbery as the electorate were driven away from polling booths. If it had been free, fair and devoid of rancour, I would have garnered more than 54,000 votes.

“I believe PDP also will bounce back if swords are sheathed and reconsolidate our party. What is required of the party is to put its house in order and we have begun moves to reconcile aggrieved individuals within the party.

“Those that have left the party for greener pastures, because they were disenchanted, will soon return home

“The internal crisis will be resolved very soon and efforts will be geared towards liberating Ekiti people from the shackles of penury and unemployment among others.”

Olujimi, while expressing the hope that PDP will bounce back in the state, said the present All Progressives Congress-led administration in the state had failed to meet the people’s expectation, hence the need for quick repositioning of PDP to take over power.

“Fayemi lost some years back and relaunched himelf into the saddle. Whether you like it or not, PDP will bounce back.

“When a new government came in, they swept everything and the next thing you find is that other comes and sweeps everything. And we are going to sweep everything next time round,” she added.
