Lalong approves appointment five new judges

Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong, has approved the appointment of five new judges for the state judiciary.


The governor disclosed this in a statement signed by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr Mark Longyen and made available to journalists in Jos on Wednesday

The new judges, according to the statement, were  Geoffrey Mwasu Kamyal, Gedaliah Dayen Fwamyon, and Boniface Shalyuun Ngyouu for the state High Court while  Muhammad Mustapha Hassan was appointed for the Sharia Court of Appeal.

Similarly, Veronica Julcit Dadom will serve in the Court of Appeal.

According to the governor’s aide, the appointments followed the recommendation of the judicial officers by the National Judicial Council.

He said “The appointments which take effect immediately are in line with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) with regards to the appointment of judicial officers.

“The new judges will be sworn in by the governor on Thursday (today) at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Little Rayfield, Jos.
