Gov. Hope Uzodimma has never renege on his mandate as the Chief Security Officer of the state in providing adequate and water tight security to imo people. It is no longer news that government at every level is saddled with the responsibility of protecting lives and properties and this explains that security threats are inevitable. Hence, government must brace up to combat it till the very end.
There is no place in the world without their own peculiar security threats and this by no means renders the government incapacitated or unfit to govern or fight out the criminal elements instead it implores all measures both from within and outside to curtail such security threats. It is a fact that most security threats are orchestrated and sponsored by some desperate politicians to make the state ungovernable or a way to unseat the government in power. The knowledge of this puts the government on its feet to always be proactive and meticulous when it concerns the security of the people.
Imo state is not left out of its peculiar and precarious security challenges ranging kidnapping, Armed robbery, herders-farmers clashes and the most recent Militants invasion into the state. All these security threats seemed seasonal and as government comes and goes, each past government was faced with one or two security issues. Some did their best while others felt nonchalant about it thereby leaving the masses to resulting to self help and a means of safeguarding their lives and properties.
The shared prosperity government of Gov. Hope Uzodimma was not exempted from facing such security threats but as a responsible government, it took proactive steps by providing all necessary security equipments and the routine provision of other equipments yet some miscreants will always dare to unleash their plans and this resulted to the breach in the security architecture of the state ranging from kidnapping, arson and the militant’s attacks but in all the State Government prevailed.
The situation in Orlu in the past weeks was no different than a reprisal attack by militants. In one of their clandestine attacks they turned the once peaceful Orlu into a war zone between them and the Nigeria Military men. It took the will power of Gov. Hope Uzodimma to restore peace and normalcy back to Orlu.
These warranted the invitation of the Nigeria Army as it looked as if the state was heading to anarchy and a breeding ground for a biafra war and the governor acted accordingly within the purview of the law for the general good of the state.
Gov. Hope Uzodimma is one person that cannot dialogue with criminals neither is he going to be cowed or overpowered by the enemies of the state. The Governor has clearly demonstrated his resilience and strong will to combat criminality in the state to a standstill and this he will do without looking back so far the lives and properties of imolites will be protected.
In the recent outing of the Governor with Imo State stakeholders, Gov. Hope Uzodimma used the opportunity to reassure Imo leaders and the entire state by reading out the riot act that any criminal caught must be made to face the law and warned politicians whose interest is to unleash mayhem and anarchy to forthwith desist from such plans as they’ll be thoroughly dealt with irrespective of political party affiliation. This is simply a government making impact and has risen above cheap accolades and clout chasing.
We have no doubt that Gov. Hope Uzodimma will make imo state a safe haven for all but security has never been a one man business and so we must collectively help the state government and our security operatives by ensuring that when we see something, we say something and indeed imo state will be better and safer for us all.
