Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has distanced himself from the decision to expel the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a statement released on Saturday, Fintiri described the move as detrimental to the party’s unity and stability, warning that such actions could deepen internal divisions and plunge the PDP into “unending crisis.”

“As a faithful party member, my position is clear: I stand for the peace and stability of the PDP, and I will not support anything that could lead to its disintegration,” the governor declared. He emphasized that reconciliation, rather than expulsion, is the only viable path forward for the party as it prepares for future political contests.

Fintiri urged stakeholders to prioritize healing and cohesion, stressing that the PDP must rebuild trust among its members to remain a credible force in Nigeria’s political landscape. “I believe that peace and reconciliation are the only ways forward for our great party,” he said, reaffirming his commitment to efforts that promote stability and progress.

The governor concluded by reiterating that his stance is guided by a desire to strengthen the PDP through dialogue and compromise. “My position is guided by the desire for peace and reconciliation, and I will continue to work towards achieving this goal,” he stated.

This intervention comes amid heightened tensions within the PDP following the expulsion of several high-profile members, a move that has sparked debate over the party’s future direction.
