The Commander, Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency(NDLEA), Enugu, Commander Aniete Bassey Idim has reaffirmed his resolve to partner with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in educating business owners in Enugu on the risk in allowing their premises to be used for drug-related offences, and economic and financial crimes.
He made the pledge while receiving the Zonal Commander of the Enugu Zonal Commander of the EFCC, Oshodi Johnson in his office, on Wednesday, February 9, 2022.
Idim, thanked the EFCC Commander for finding time to visit. โI am very happy to welcome you to my office. As brothers in the service of our Fatherland, we should not just get lost in the crowd. We need to be in contact from time to time to share ideasโ.
He lamented how unfortunate it is for hotel and business owners to allow their premises to be used for drug-related offences, economic and financial crimes. โIt is disheartening that many business owners do not understand the implication of allowing those who do shady businesses to use their premises for their activities. We will partner with you to educate them that there is a law regarding the use of premises for crimes. These business owners must be made to understand that harbouring these โHeavy Spendersโ will cost them so much in the long run. Not only will it cost them their business, but it will also affect the staff that work in those establishments tooโ.
Johnson, in his response, thanked the NDLEA Boss for their collaboration since he assumed office. โI am grateful for the support we have been enjoying from your command since you took over. We will partner with you to educate not just the business owners but also the public so that they will understand that they must report those involve in these negative practices to the appropriate bodies. Together, we will bequeath a society free of drug trafficking, cybercrimes, economic and financial crimes to the next generation.
