Immigration Amnesty begins, to last for 90 days – Ministry of Interior

As of today, the “Foreigners and Immigration (Amendment) Law”, known as the Immigration Amnesty, which provides amnesty for foreigners who have been sentenced for being in the northern part of Cyprus without permission, will be valid for 90 days until February 3.

According to the statement made by the Ministry of Interior, foreigners who have been sentenced in the TRNC can get a minimum wage online by entering the official website of the Ministry of Interior https://icisleri.gov.ct.tr/ within 90 days from the effective date of the Immigration Amnesty can benefit from the amnesty by paying a fee.

Foreigners who have been sentenced abroad, on the other hand, will be able to benefit from amnesty by paying a gross minimum wage when they enter the country, after they personally apply to the TRNC consulates or representations abroad within 90 days from the date of entry into force of the law, and after the necessary examination and approval by the Immigration Department.

In the written statement made by the Ministry of Interior, it was stated that those who benefited from the Immigration Amnesty between 4 November 2021 and 31 January 2022 with the Foreigners and Immigration (Amendment) Law No. 18/2021 will not be able to benefit from this immigration amnesty.

The statement included the following information regarding the amnesty conditions:

โ€œThose who reside in the TRNC:  Persons who do not leave the country even though the Residence, Work, Doing Business, Business and Student Permits granted to them upon entry to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus have expired; provided that you pay a minimum wage within 10 days from the date of approval of the Immigration Office after making an online application,

Persons who enter with a tourist visa and do not leave the country even though it has expired; provided that you pay a minimum wage within 10 days from the date of approval of the Immigration Office after making an online application,

Persons who have been dismissed due to Unauthorized Residence and Work; provided that you pay a minimum wage within 10 days from the date of approval of the Immigration Office after making an online application,

Spouses, single children under the age of 25, children with disabilities over the age of 18; by applying to the Immigration Office within 60 days after the spouses of sentenced persons benefit from the amnesty, (They will be exempted from paying the penalty)

Those who are abroad: They will be able to benefit from amnesty by paying a gross minimum wage when they enter the country after they personally apply to the TRNC consulates or representations abroad within 90 days from the date of entry into force of the law and after the necessary examination and approval by the Immigration Department.

The beneficiaries of the amnesty are exempted from the preliminary permit procedures if they apply for a Work Permit within the 60-day visitor permit granted to them by their employer. If they do not get legal permission within 60 days, they have to leave the country.

Persons who are married to a TRNC Citizen who are abroad and have been penalized; by paying a gross minimum wage and proof of marriage upon entry into the country,

Spouses of persons with Residence Permit, Students, Work, Business and Establishment Permits who are abroad and have been penalized; by paying a minimum wage and a document proving that they are married when they enter the country,

Single children under the age of 25 of persons with Residence Permit, Students, Work, Business and Establishment Permits who are abroad and have been penalized, children with disabilities over the age of 18; by paying a minimum wage and a document proving that they are disabled and that they are a child of the person when they enter the country,

Those who are expelled from the country because they do not have a residence permit, with a valid report and who do not have any inconvenience in terms of national security, and their spouses and children, must pay the monthly gross minimum wage and pay the transportation costs, income and taxes paid by the state for the expelled person at the time of his exportation, provided that you pay to the office via the online system,

Foreign nationals who are expelled from the TRNC and abroad due to work or residence without a work permit; they will be able to benefit from the amnesty by paying a minimum fee when they enter the country after they personally apply to the TRNC consulates or representations abroad within 90 days and after the necessary examination and approval by the Immigration Department.
