“In this context, our shock strikes will be announced tomorrow at 08:00 and a protest action will be held in front of the Ministry of Finance at 09:30 and a press statement will be made.”

There was no result from the government-unions negotiations on the elimination of the grievances of the employees within the scope of the immigration law, and the unions decided to continue the protests.

Güven Bengihan, the President of the Cyprus Turkish Public Officials Union (KTAMS), in a joint statement on behalf of the unions, reminded that the unions started shock strikes today after the government did not keep its promise regarding the elimination of the grievances of the workers within the scope of the immigration law, and pointed to the meeting they had with Prime Minister Ünal Üstel at 12.30.

KTAMS President Bengihan said, “Apart from the positive outcome of the meeting, the Prime Minister even rejected the previously agreed issues. Upon the determination of the government’s lack of intention to compromise, our unions, which gathered for the assessment of the situation, decided to continue the action process”.

Bengihan said, “In this context, our shock strikes will be announced tomorrow at 08:00 and a protest action will be held in front of the Ministry of Finance at 09:30 and a press statement will be made.”
