Suspect arrested for assaulting girlfriend over cooking arraigned

The suspect Türker Batural, who battered his girlfriend on the grounds that she did not cook was arrested and brought before the court. The court decided that the suspect should remain pending with the demand for collateral.

Police officer Doğcan Kırgeç, who testified in the court regarding the issue said that the suspect Türker Batural was involved in the crime of “serious assault”.

Kırgeç noted that on Sunday, September 04, at around 6:15 p.m, he battered his lover, IAP, in his residence in Nicosia, as a result of an argument that broke out on the grounds that she did not cook for him, and that he hit the complainant on the head causing a bruise on her forehead.

Expressing that the suspect grabbed the complainant’s arms and body and pushed her to various parts of the house.

Kırgeç emphasized that he severely battered the woman by causing superficial abrasions on various parts of her body.

The police stated that they received the information of the incident on Monday, September 05, and that the complainant was sent to Nicosia hospital.

He stated that she underwent a physical examination in the Emergency Department of Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital and a doctor’s report was obtained that she had marks of assault and force on his body.

The police stated that the suspect was arrested on the same day as per the pending order, and that there was environmental witnessing that the incident took place within the scope of the investigation carried out.

The police demanded that the investigation was partially completed but that the suspect was no longer able to influence, and that he be given appropriate security until their case could be heard.

Evaluating the testimony given in his presence, Judge Hazal Hacımulla said that on the condition that the suspect is prohibited from leaving the country for the purpose of being present at the trial, that he report himself to the nearest police station one day a week; deposit a cash guarantee of 8 thousand TL and that two guarantors from the TRNC sign a bond of 150 thousand TL.

He ordered the suspect to be put on trial.
