The fuel tender for the Cyprus Turkish Electricity Authority (Kıb-Tek) has been started again.

An estimated value of 12 million 259 thousand dollars was determined for the tender, which will be accepted until September 12.

The latest tender was cancelled, and Central Tender Commission (MIK) President Halis Üresin stated the reason for the cancellation of the tender for KIBTEK’s 200 thousand metric-ton fuel purchase and transportation with the words “public benefit”.

The UBP-DP-YDP Government, in which Ünal Üstel was appointed as the prime minister, had previously made purchases without tender with the “Decree Force of Law”, and it was documented that the country suffered a serious loss from these purchases.

The government had withdrawn the Decree having the force of law regarding non-tender purchases upon the application made to the Constitutional Court.

It was learned that 6 companies participated in the last canceled tender, and 2 companies were left to the end.

Two companies are left to the end, a difference of 2.5 million dollars between the two offers!

According to the information that YENİDÜZEN obtained from different sources, it was claimed that while one firm gave a price of 47 dollars a ton, another firm offered a 60-dollar ton.

It was also discussed that there was a difference of $ 2.5 million between the two offers.

MİK Chairman Halis Üresin, while answering questions about the ‘oppression’ allegations, said ‘there are those who called and asked’, but claimed that he was not pressured by the Prime Minister and the relevant ministers.

Üresin added that KIBTEK would continue to supply fuel within the framework of the existing ‘purchase without tender’ agreement until the new process is completed.
