KTHES President ibrahim Özgöçmen announced that a woman was subjected to violence by her boyfriend at Girne Akçiçek Hospital. Özgöçmen stated that health workers intervened in the incident.

Cyprus Turkish Nurses and Midwives Union (KTHES) President İbrahim Özgöçmen announced that a woman had been subjected to violence in Girne Akçiçek Hospital. Özgöçmen explained that health workers intervened to prevent the attacker from causing problems due to the lack of hospital security.

In the written statement made by KTHES, the patient, who was brought to the 112 emergency service with a broken leg, was exposed to verbal violence by her boyfriend.

“THE DEATH WAS THREATENED”

KTHES President Özgöçmen stated that the woman who came to the hospital was verbally abused by her boyfriend and said, “The doctors intervened due to the insufficient security of the hospital.”

The statement made by KTHES is as follows:

“Yesterday at around seven o’clock in the evening, the female patient, whose leg was broken and plastered before, was brought to Girne Akçiçek Hospital Emergency Service by asking 112 sergeant for help, and necessary help was given.

Her boyfriend, who came to the emergency room during this time, threatened our female patient with death. The aggressor, ignoring the warnings of the sensitive citizens who saw the incident, attacked and battered the relevant people.”

It was announced that the attacker was neutralized with the support of Nurse Ali Bolat, Head of the Association AS, and Doctor Cemil Yandaş, who were on duty in the emergency room, against the physical attack on the woman in the hospital.

KTHES explains:

“The attacker, who was neutralized thanks to inadequate security personnel and sensitive citizens, was handed over to the police and a complaint was made about him.

“THE HEALTH VIOLENCE LAW MUST BE IMPLEMENTED”

Should we set up our own security units and call it a tooth for a tooth and an eye for an eye? We are strong because of our belief in justice and we defend the rule of law. Violence in health law should be enacted immediately.

It is our open call to the prosecutor’s office, the General Directorate of Police and all authorities that may be authorized on the subject.

Before a woman or a health worker is killed, we publicly call, demand the necessary action, and draw attention to the last point our emergency services have brought.”
