The Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, provided the details in a statement on Monday in Abuja.

The ambush took place near the border with the Republic of Niger. During the ensuing firefight, several of the terrorists were neutralized, and weapons and ammunition were recovered from the scene.

According to the statement, the attackers were identified as members of the Lakurawa terror group from Niger Republic, based on the corpses of the slain terrorists.
