The Federal Government has announced an increase in the fees for obtaining Nigerian passports, effective from September 1, 2024.

According to a statement by the spokesperson for the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), DCI Kenneth Udo, the adjustment is part of efforts to uphold the quality and integrity of the Nigerian Standard Passport.

As per the review, the cost of a 32-page passport booklet with a 5-year validity has risen from N35,000 to N50,000. Similarly, the fee for a 64-page booklet with a 10-year validity has increased from N70,000 to N100,000.

The statement clarified that passport fees for Nigerians living abroad remain unchanged.

While acknowledging the inconvenience this hike may cause, the NIS reassured the public of its commitment to transparency and consistent delivery of quality services.
