Two Killed, Five Abducted by Gunmen in Ondo

Armed men suspected to be kidnappers have killed two commuters and kidnapped five others along the Ifon-Owo Highway in Ondo State, Nigeria.

The incident occurred on Friday evening when gunmen attacked a commercial vehicle traveling from Anambra State to Owo and Akure in Ondo State.

The driver of the vehicle and a female passenger were shot dead at the scene, while five other passengers, including a Corps member, were abducted by the gunmen. Two of the kidnapped victims managed to escape with varying degrees of injuries.

The Public Relations Officer of the Ondo State Police Command, SP Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, confirmed the incident in a telephone chat. She stated that a team of policemen has been deployed to the area and is currently combing the nearby forest to apprehend the kidnappers and rescue the victims.

Local residents revealed that the fully loaded commercial vehicle was targeted by the gunmen while heading towards its destination in Ondo State. The police are actively working to bring the perpetrators to justice and ensure the safety of the remaining abducted passengers.
