Ali Ndume Succeeded by Tahir Munguno as Senate Chief Whip

Senator Tahir Munguno

Senator Tahir Munguno has replaced Senator Ali Ndume as the Senate Chief Whip.

The upper chamber took this unanimous decision through a voice vote after the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, read a complaint from the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Headquarters. The complaint cited unbecoming utterances by Senator Ndume.

Senator Ndume, who represents Southern Borno and was absent from the session, has been vocal in his criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies, highlighting issues such as economic hardship, food scarcity, and the resulting security crisis.

As a result of these remarks, Senator Ndume was not only removed from his position as Chief Whip but also from his role as Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations. He has been reassigned to chair the Senate Committee on Tourism.
