Canadian police are currently investigating a shooting that occurred in the early hours at the residence of superstar rapper Drake in a prestigious Toronto neighborhood. Inspector Paul Krawczyk stated that a security guard at Drake’s mansion on The Bridle Path road was hospitalized with serious injuries from a gunshot wound after suspects in a vehicle opened fire.
The incident, which took place at 2:09 am, was captured on security camera footage but has not been released to the public. Krawczyk mentioned that the guard was outside the gates of the residence when the shooting happened.
While it’s unclear whether Drake was present during the incident, Krawczyk noted that they are in contact with Drake’s team, who are cooperating with the investigation. The suspects fled the scene in a vehicle, but no descriptions were provided.
The area surrounding the mansion was cordoned off by police tape, and markers believed to indicate shell casings were visible on the road’s edge.
Drake, 37, is renowned for hits like “God’s Plan” and “Hotline Bling” and was the highest-grossing rapper globally last year. Currently, he’s engaged in a feud with Kendrick Lamar, exchanging “diss tracks” that have attracted significant attention. However, there’s no indication that the shooting is related to their rivalry.
Regarding the animosity between Drake and Kendrick Lamar, Krawczyk acknowledged awareness but stated that it’s too early in the investigation to determine a motive.
