Troops of Operation Hadarin Daji deployed to the Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State have rescued 40 kidnapped victims.

It was gathered that the troops acted on an ntelligence report that bandits had kidnapped an unspecified number of persons from Kyairu/Kyaram and Alkama villages in the local government.

A top military source, who preferred anonymity, told newsmen that troops immediately mobilised for a fighting patrol and established blocking positions around the bandits’ withdrawal routes around Kyairu/Kyaram and Alkama villages on Tuesday.

“However, contact was made with heavy firefight which lasted for hours forcing the bandits to flee and abandoning the kidnapped victims,” the source said.

The rescued kidnapped victims numbering 40 have since reunited with their families while 10 of the victims were handed over to the Sarkin Gwashi to connect the victims with their respective families.
