Umahi visits Buhari, urges APC to zone Senate Presidency to South-East

President Muhammadu Buhari and Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi

For the sake of equity, the South-East should be prioritised in zoning considerations for the senate presidency seat, Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has urged the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Umahi, who made the plea on Tuesday after a private meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House in Abuja, argued that the inadequacy of votes from the South-East should not be a deterrent.

The governor urged the party to show understanding, underscoring that he fought for the APC, in spite of criticisms even at the peak of the EndSARS protests.

He added that it was his conviction that it was the turn of the South to produce the next president.

According to Umahi, the subject of competence rather than ranking or experience should be made the superior argument in the choice of who should emerge the leader of the Senate in the 10th National Assembly.
