The vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, has been accredited and cast his vote.

Okowa, the outgoing Delta State Governor, cast his ballot at exactly 9:46 am at the Eghoma Primary School Owa Alero Polling Unit 17.

He exercised his franchise in the Agbor area of the state as the elections were underway on Saturday.

Addressing journalists after voting, Okowa said he is optimistic about the victory of the PDP in the elections.

This is coming few minutes after his principal, the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar cast his vote in Adamawa.

The former Vice President and his wife, Titi voted at Polling Unit 012, Ajiya Ward in the Yola North Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

Abubakar expressed optimism and confidence that he would emerge the winner of the presidential election and succeed President Muhammadu Buhari whose two-term tenure ends on May 29, 2023.

The PDP flag bearer is one of the leading candidates in the race to Aso Rock. Atiku’s major contenders include Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

Atiku was also the PDP candidate in 2019 and came second with over 11 million votes, right behind Buhari who polled over 15 million votes.
