Türk-Sen demanded that the minimum wage be determined urgently in accordance with the current conditions.
Arslan Bıçaklı, President of the Cyprus Turkish Trade Unions Federation (Türk-Sen), stated that the minimum wage was condemned to starvation and that it should be increased as soon as possible.
In his written statement, Bıçaklı included the following statements:
“Recently, those who are constantly working with the increase in all consumer goods, especially those who are trying to survive by earning the minimum wage, have been condemned to starvation. For these reasons, it is not possible for a family of four to live a humane life with 8 thousand 600 TL below the hunger limit.
“The Minimum Wage Commission should convene very urgently and determine and implement the new minimum wage in accordance with the current conditions. The increase to be made should be made by taking into account the real inflation of at least one year and the lost purchasing power of the minimum wage workers should be compensated.”
