The suspect Seyit Ali Selik, who was trying to cross from the south to the north of Cyprus with a fake Italian identity card, will be detained for 2 days as part of the investigation.
The suspect Seyit Ali Selik, who was arrested in Nicosia on the charge of “Drafting and Circulating False Official Documents”, was brought before the court.
Police officer Ortunç Özbaylı, who gave sworn testimony in the court, stated that the suspect Seyit Ali Selik, who was present was charged with the crime of “Drafting and Circulating False Official Documents”.
Özbaylı said while the suspect wanted to cross from Southern Cyprus to the TRNC with his Italian identity card with the serial number CA61782HG, which had his own photograph on it and was faked in the name of Edoardo Matteo, he gave fake official documents to the immigration officer on duty at the Metehan Land Entrance Gate of Nicosia on October 18, 2022, at 20.30.
Police said the Italian identity card with the serial number CA61782HG was on record seized and the suspect was arrested pursuant to a pending warrant.
The police demanded that the investigation regarding the matter has just started and that the suspect should be detained for 2 more days so that the investigation can be carried out safely, as there are statements to be taken regarding the issue and camera footage that needs to be examined.
Evaluating the testimony given in his presence, Judge Nil Elodie Çeliker ordered the suspects to remain in police custody for 2 days for investigation purposes.
