NSCDC arrests five suspected cable vandals in Kaduna

Officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have arrested five suspects who specialise in vandalising electricity cables and transformers at Pambegua Community in the Kubau Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Parading the suspects at the command’s headquarters in the Kaduna State capital, the NSCDC Commandant in the state, Idris Adah, said they were nabbed by his men while carrying the criminal act during a routine patrol in Pambegua.

According to him, the suspects confessed to vandalising a transformer at Pambegua General Hospital and also stole armoured cables of another transformer before they were apprehended by NSCDC officers.

Some exhibits were also recovered from tne suspects including stolen armoured cables and street lights.

The NSCDC Commandant said other accomplices involved in the criminal act are at large and are being trailed by his men with a view to arresting them, while the five suspects so far arrested will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigation.

He, however, warned that Kaduna will no longer be a safe haven for vandals of private and public assets, as the command remained battle ready to deal ruthlessly with anyone caught in such criminal and unpatriotic act.
