Police officer Aykut Özkan, who gave sworn testimony in court, stated that the suspect Sabit Parsel was involved in the crime of “Making Publications”.
Police stated, on September 7, 2022, on the social media platform called Facebook, he insulted President Ersin Tatar and said that he was broadcasting with malicious intent from the account named Sabit Teksen, which is in use by the suspect, saying, “The clown of the island continues on its way to become the jester of the TC. Police stated that on September 15, 2022, the suspect gave a voluntary statement to the police regarding the issue and admitted that the social media platform called Sabit Teksen belonged to him and that he had made the said post.
Again, the police determined that the statements used by the suspect from the reply letters provided by the necessary correspondence to two different universities so that the words on the Facebook post of the suspect could be examined by language and literature experts.
He stated that it was determined that Ersin Tatar was targeted, humiliated, harassed and provocative.
Özkan stated that, as of yesterday, the suspect was notified of a written case regarding the crime of “Making Publications with Intentional Publication” under legal notice and that the investigation initiated against the suspect was completed.
Stating that the suspect is a TRNC citizen, Özkan demanded that the suspect be given a suitable guarantee until their cases are heard.
Evaluating the testimony given in his presence, Judge Nil Elodie Çeliker stated that the suspect was banned from going abroad for the purpose of being present at the trial, report at the nearest police station one day a week, sign a bail bond worth 70 thousand TL, 1 guarantor from TRNC sign a bail bond worth 50 thousand TL.
He ordered that he be remanded pending trial on the condition that he be sent to prison as an uncontested prisoner for a period not exceeding 7 days if he fails to fulfill the conditions.
