The Three Lions will face the side they lost to in the Euro 2020 final as they look to seal a place at the European Championship in Germany.
They will also come up against Ukraine, North Macedonia and minnows Malta in qualifying Group C.
Wales will have to get the better of Croatia, Armenia, Turkey and Latvia in their bid to qualify for their third successive major tournament.
Scotland face giants Spain and Erling Haaland’s Norway in Group A, while the Republic of Ireland have a tricky task after being drawn with France and the Netherlands in Group B.
Fifth-seed Northern Ireland face games against Denmark, Finland, Slovenia, Kazakhstan and San Marino in their bid for a place at the summer tournament.
