We will be pleased with direct flights from Russia to TRNC – Tayyip Erdogan

President of the Republic of Turkey, Tayyip Erdogan, said, “We will of course be pleased if direct flights from Russia to the TRNC start.”

President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan answered journalists’ questions at the Turkevi in ​​New York at the end of his visit to the USA.

Asked for his opinion on the news that there may be a direct flight from Russia to the TRNC, Erdogan said, “Of course we would be pleased.”

Stating that he also touched on the north of Cyprus during his meetings with Russian President Putin, Erdoğan said, “I have always discussed this issue with him. We have always repeated and expressed our rightful struggle in Cyprus to all the leaders we have hosted or visited in our country, and that the issue should be resolved in a just and permanent way.”

Drawing attention to the high tourist potential of Russia, Erdogan said, “Tourism is one of the most important income sources of TRNC. I believe that such a flow in tourism to the TRNC will lead to a serious leap economically,” he said.

Erdogan continued his words as follows:

“It is already a country with a very good infrastructure for tourism. Hopefully, the results to be obtained in this regard will carry the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus much further. I hope that with the recognition of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in the coming period, a very different future awaits there.”
