We are one of the most functioning departments – Şebnem Kuyucuoğulları

Tax office employees affiliated to the Revenue and Tax Office Employees’ Union (Tax-Sen) protested the words of the Minister of Public Works and Transport, Erhan Arıklı, in a special television program about the employees of the Department.

Reacting to Minister Arıklı’s words to the Tax Office employees, “They sort out molehiya in the Department, they come late to working hours, they leave early, they do not help the Driver’s License”.

Vergi-Sen said, “We have no time to sort it out, you do it.” Then he left a bunch of molehiya at the door of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport.

Speaking at the action held in front of the Nicosia Tax Office, Vergi-Sen Chairman Şebnem Kuyucuoğulları criticized Minister Arıklı’s words and said, “Everyone knows about us, the tax office, we are one of the most functioning apartments. No one can raise their head because of the intensity. Minister Arıklı does not know this because he did not come to the department and looked at it”.

Pointing out that 21 personnel working under the Tax Office are actively working in the licenses and motor vehicles unit of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport.

Kuyucuoğulları said that there are only 17 employees working under the licenses unit and said, “If we take these 21 people, Mr. Minister What will he do?” she asked.

Kuyucuoğulları stated that the licenses and motor vehicles unit was attached to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport in 2014, and that the law enacted in this period stated that the tax office employees would continue their duties there, and that those who wish could return to their offices, although 8 years have passed, this business has not improved.

On the other hand, Vergi-Sen Secretary General Ediz Uzun said, “We are not angry, we feel shame.”

Responding to the words “Unions rule the country,” Uzun said, “If the unions ruled the country, many people would be held accountable in the court corridors. We wouldn’t be able to find politicians,” he said.

Reminding that there was a tax office employee who came to his duty and died two months ago, despite his doctor saying that he should not work.

Uzun noted that he had a colleague who retired before his age due to the intensity in the past weeks.

Long argued that these problems would not be experienced when Minister Arıklı did not wait for things to turn into chaos and opened the necessary vacancies when he took office.

Uzun also criticized Finance Minister Alişan Şan for not supporting them.

After the action at the tax office, the Vergi-Sen Board of Directors went to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport and left a molehiya at the Ministry’s door.

Speaking here, union officials said, “We don’t have time. If he’s going to run his own nicer licenses and motor vehicles unit, let him give it to another department.

We want to collect taxes and develop our country. We don’t want to deal with them. We brought Molehiya, if he wants, he can sort it out himself.”
