Suspects in possession of illegal drugs arraigned

In Nicosia, suspects A.D (M-24) and S.I (M-22), who had drugs in their possession, were arrested and brought to court.  

Describing the incident in court, police officer Ortunç Özbaylı stated that a search was carried out on the 24-year-old suspect A.D on Zahra street in Nicosia on September 25 and that 2 grams of substance mixed with tobacco was found in the cigarette box in his pocket.

Police also said that a plastic bottle designed to use drugs was found at the scene and taken as a circumstantial evidence.

The police stated that the suspect was arrested due to his red-handed state.

Pointing out that during the interrogation, it was determined that the suspect had taken the substance in question from 22-year-old S.I in Nicosia, the police stated that the suspect S.I was arrested as per the pending order.

The police stated that, in accordance with the search warrant obtained from the Nicosia District Court, nothing illegal could be detected in the search carried out in the residences of both suspects.

The police said that on the same date, the necessary correspondence was started to take 10cc of blood from the suspects for drug testing and send it to the state laboratory.

The police demanded that the suspects be detained in the police for 3 days, saying that the investigation has only just begun, that there are camera footage and statements to be taken.

Evaluating the testimony given in his presence, Judge Nil Elodie Çeliker ordered the suspect to be detained for 3 days.
