Republic of Cyprus donates 252 thousand Euros to Missing Persons Committee

The Republic of Cyprus donated 252 thousand Euros to the Missing Persons Committee (CMP).

It has been stated that the Republic of Cyprus has provided a total of 3 million 537 thousand 700 Euros of financial aid to the CMP since 2005, with a donation of 252,000 Euros.

The full text of the CMP’s statement is as follows:

“252,000 Euro Donation from the Republic of Cyprus to the Missing Persons Committee

(Nicosia, 6 September 2022 ) – Missing Persons Committee (CMP) received a donation of 252,000 Euros from the Republic of Cyprus on 5 September 2022.

The Republic of Cyprus’ donation of 252,000 Euros equates to a total of 3,537,700 Euros in financial aid that has contributed to the CMP since 2005.

In 2022, these funds will support the general excavation, identification and return of missing persons’ remains project of the Committee on Missing Persons in Cyprus, which aims to end the long-standing obscurity that has affected families .

So far, 1,027 missing persons from both Cypriot communities have been identified and returned to their families for an honorable burial.

The CMP relies on donor support to implement its bi-communal project that alleviates the suffering of the families involved.

The European Union is the main financial backer of the Missing Persons Committee.
