As part of the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) summer workshop for high school students, a gastronomy workshop was held at the EMU tourism faculty.
According to the statement made by the EMU public relations and media directorate, 10 high school students received theoretical and practical training in gastronomy at the workshop held between 15 – 26 August.
The trainings were given by EMU tourism faculty lecturer Münevver Gürel, specialist chefs Dervişe Demir and Hatice Fabric, and research assistant Fatma Öztunç.
High school students who had the opportunity to practice in the kitchen every day for two weeks exhibited their products at the EMU tourism faculty kitchen on Friday, the last day of the workshop, and then a certificate ceremony was held.
It was presented by EMU tourism faculty Deputy Dean Assist. Assoc. Dr. Güven Ardahan and faculty lecturers.

Speaking at the ceremony, Assist. Assoc. Dr. Ardahan stated that they are happy to be with the kitchen chefs of the future.
Stating that the workshop, which started with hygiene education, continued with sauce and hot kitchen trainings.
Ardahan said that together with the students, they cooked a variety of dishes ranging from Cyprus cuisine to Turkish cuisine and Italy.
Stating that they closed the gastronomy workshop with different dessert products.
Ardahan emphasized that they expect to see the high school students participating in the workshop as EMU tourism faculty students in the coming years.
Ardahan thanked all EMU tourism faculty staff who contributed to the organization of the gastronomy workshop and all the students who participated in the workshops.
