23-year-old tourist arrested for burglary arraigned

The suspect, B.D (M-23), who came to the north of Cyprus as a tourist and was arrested on charges of “Opening a House” and “Theft”, was brought before the court.

Police officer Birtan Başaran, who reported the incident at the court, said that the suspect, who was in the country as a ‘tourist’, opened the windows of a house in the Gönyeli – Yenikent district in the early hours of September 21, entered and left the same place when he was noticed.

The police stated that the suspect was identified and arrested in Nicosia, and that a separate investigation was launched to indicate that he may have a connection with the “circast inside the vehicle” investigation.

The police explained that the camera footage of the two investigations launched regarding the issue was captured as evidence for examination, and that the witnesses who saw the suspect running from the scene of the crime and the residents should be reached and statements should be obtained.

The police demanded that the investigation of the matter has just begun, and that if the suspect is released at this stage, it will adversely affect our investigation, so that he remains in police custody for 2 days.

Judge Nil Elodie Çeliker, evaluating the testimony given in his presence, ordered the suspect to be detained for 2 days.
