Public-Is President Ahmet Serdaroğlu called out to the government regarding the cleaning tender of the Ministry of Education and warned of ‘chaos’.
Stating that the cleaning tender has been made under the name of subcontractor services in schools for years, Serdaroğlu said, “We warn the government not to open schools with chaos. This tender cannot be made by violating the authority of our union. With the protocol we have prepared, we can resolve this issue between the union and the government without a third party.”
“We do not accept this illegal transaction made in disregard of the authorized union”
Serdaroğlu said, “The Ministry of Education will recruit janitors to provide so-called cleaning services. It is said that this tender will be concluded on the 22nd of the month. It is not possible for us, who are the authorized union here, to accept this illegal transaction, which is done by disregarding the authority of us,” he said.
“Why are you hurting the state with such tenders?”
“Why are you hurting the state with such tenders?” Serdaroğlu asked, continuing his words as follows:
“We’ve been trying to explain that this isn’t true for about three months. It is not right to employ people without a union and without complying with any legislation. Although we have said this many times, a consensus table has not been established. The government stubbornly wants to go out to tender with the logic that I will do it”.
“It is not right to go out to tender at the expense of removing people with union memberships”
Stating that three months ago, they made the janitors working in schools members of the union and they prepared a protocol on this issue, Serdaroğlu said, “While the government should take this protocol into account and sit down with us as the authorized union, this is not done. It is not right to go out to tender at the expense of expelling people whose memberships have been approved,” he said.
“Government must be wrong”
Inviting the government to turn from the wrong, Serdaroğlu continued as follows:
“It is not correct to open our schools in an environment of chaos while they are opening. As a union, we are persistent. We will never transfer our lines of business, our authority, to companies. This is our redline. Create the consensus table. In the protocol signed by our union, although these employees will work in the state at a lower cost, those who run the country say, ‘I will pay more. We can’t understand the ‘I’ll pay the company’ logic. The government should turn from this wrong.”
“The state will save serious money”
Stating that their aim is to comply with the working regulations in the public sector, Serdaroğlu said, “In this way, without a third party, that is, a private company, these works are carried out completely before our union and the ministry of education. In this way, the state will make serious savings, there will be no discrimination among employees, and labor peace will be ensured. We invite the government to reconsider these issues.”
