The Ministry of National Education, Vocational Technical Education Department announced “Vocational Acquisition Courses” together with the vocational chambers in order to support the workforce and reduce the need for this.
While the press conference in this context was held at the Ministry of National Education, Minister of Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu, Director of Vocational Technical Education Department Gülşen Hocanın, Ministry Undersecretary Aytunç Company, Ministry Director Revin Gürler, Cyprus Turkish Hoteliers Association (KITOB), KT Construction Subcontractors Association, KT Electrical Contractors Association , KT Construction Contractors Association, KT Chamber of Commerce (KTTO), KT Chamber of Industry (KTSO), KT Union of Chambers of Architects and Engineers (KTMMOB), KT Chamber of Tradesmen and Craftsmen (KTEZO) attended.
ÇAVUŞOĞLU
In his speech at the meeting, Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu pointed out the importance of vocational courses in terms of the needs of the increasing population, daily life and the maintenance of life, and stated that the vocational schools that have been operating in the TRNC since the past are insufficient to provide the expected momentum.
Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that although a certain effort is made in providing a profession; it is not possible to achieve success unless there is cooperation with unions and chambers, and said that the Apprenticeship Training Center is a bit of a remedy for the TRNC to be self-sufficient in this sense.
Noting that TRNC youth go to work abroad for various reasons. Çavuşoğlu also noted that there are more than 40 thousand workers living in the country with legal work permits, and reminded that a certain number of local people in the country are in the “unemployed” status.
Thanking the professional chambers, Çavuşoğlu stated that the unions and chambers also desire the country to be self-sufficient. Therefore, with their support and cooperation, 575 courses in 20 fields will be brought to the people’s feet and the people will rise to their feet.
HOCANIN
Vocational Technical Education Director Gülşen Hocanın, who took the floor after Minister Çavuşoğlu, said that the greatest support in this matter was seen by Minister Çavuşoğlu himself; that there is a lot to be done in vocational education and that they are walking towards the goal step by step.
Explaining that the information note about which courses will be opened and the conditions of participation is available on the website of the Vocational Technical Education Department. Hocanın added that other courses that will be requested may be opened in the future.
At the meeting, representatives of chambers and unions also took the floor and conveyed their views about the courses and the problems experienced in the sectors to the Ministry officials.
COURSES
Vocational courses are offered at Atatürk Vocational High School, Haydarpaşa, Osmen Örek and Sedat Simavi Industrial Vocational High Schools in Nicosia, Doctor Fazıl Küçük Industry, Famagusta Vocational and Famagusta Commercial High Schools in Famagusta, Girne Tourism Vocational High School in Girne, and Güzelyurt Vocational High School in Guzelyurt, Cengiz Topel Industrial Vocational High School in Lefke, Iskele Commercial High School in Iskele, and will also be launched in workplaces with the support of various chambers.
Instructor masters will also be able to take part as instructors in the courses along with the teachers.
Applications can be made to the relevant schools from 1 September. Those who want to attend the course will be able to get detailed information from the relevant vocational high school. The courses will be paid and will differ according to the fields.
As a result of each course opened in the fields, a higher qualification will be obtained and the right to enter the general level certificate and / or journeyman / mastership certificate exam will be obtained, or will have the opportunity to work with the qualification obtained, provided that a sufficient number of qualifications are obtained.
TRNC citizens and persons over the age of 15 who have a legal residence and work permit and a student visa in the TRNC can attend the courses.
