WAFCON 2022: Super Falcons lose first game to South Africa

Nigeria’s Super Falcons fell to a 2-1 defeat against South Africa in their opening game at the 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations.

Both teams cancelled out each other in the first half, with the Banyana Banyana creating better chances.
The Super Falcons dominated the opening exchanges in the second half but fell behind a minute after the hour mark.
Jermaine Seoposenwe slotted the ball home after she was set up by Noxolo Cesane.
The Banyana Banyana were two goals up two minutes later courtesy of a fine strike by Hildah Magaia.
The Super Falcons reduced the deficit late in the game through Rasheedat Ajibade.
The Super Falcons will take on Botswana in their second Group C game on Thursday.
