Members of the National Association of Nigerian Students, Benue State Chapter, have declared their support to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in the ongoing fight against corruption and economic crimes in the country.
The chairman, Comrade Maxwell Faasema made the declaration on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 when he led the executive members of the students’ body on a courtesy visit to the Makurdi Zonal Command of the Commission.
Comrade Maxwell praised the Command for its efforts in bringing sanity to Benue State. ”The National Association of Nigerian Students, Benue State Chapter, is very happy and grateful to your office for fighting corruption in this state.
“We are here to partner with EFCC in the fight against internet fraud and other financial crimes among Nigeria students. We want to have partnership and synergy with EFCC to create a positive impact in the fight against corruption in Benue State and Nigeria at large,” he said.
Responding, the Makurdi Zonal Commander, Friday Ebelo commended the students for their show of support and solidarity, stating that the Commission was willing to partner with all stakeholders in the fight against financial crimes. “You are the leaders of tomorrow. Some of you complain about the economy but that is not a ground for you to commit offence; you must not be corrupt and we need the collaboration of stakeholders like the students union representatives.
“The corruption taking place in higher institutions of learning is so alarming and we need you to notify us with facts and your identity will not be disclosed. Make sure you shun corruption at this stage, because you are representing students who are the leaders of tomorrow and the general public as well”, he said.
