The Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Ogbonnaya Onu (Dr) has disclosed that the Federal Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation will work in synergy with the Taraba State Government towards advancing the country in the area of STI.
The Minister revealed this when he received the Taraba State Governor, Darius Dickson Ishaku (Architect) in his office on Monday 24th January 2022 in Abuja.
Ogbonnata Onu reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to helping the State to restore the affected facilities in the Bio – Technology Centre under the Ministry that was vandalized during the Endsars protest. He further expressed the Federal Government’s commitment to working very closely with the State Government to reposition the country technologically.
“The nation is gradually moving from resource to knowledge-based economy through the efforts of the Ministry by making sure that certain policies are put in place to achieve a common purpose. We are gradually moving the nation away from depending on commodities, so that we can use our brain to add value to the enormous resources that God has endowed on the nation. For Nigeria to be truly great like other advanced countries, it must pay special attention to Science, Technology and Innovation (STI),” the Minister implied.
Earlier in his remarks, the Governor of Taraba State, Darius Ishaku (Architect) noted that the purpose of his visit to the Ministry was to appeal to the Minister to resuscitate the vandalized Bio – Technology Centre that was destroyed during the Endears protests in the State. He also appreciated the Ministry’s efforts and cooperation through STI, especially in the area of Bio -Technology Development and other Agencies.
The Governor added that the Ministry is helping farmers in the State through utilising the machine technology located in Jalingo for the production of bricks and drying of fishes.
