Tordue Salem: Gbajabiamila visits press corps, signs Condolence Register

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep. Femi Gbajabiamila, has paid a condolence visit to members of the House Press Corps over the death of a reporter, who worked for the Vanguard Newspapers, the late Tordue Salem.

The police had said Salem, who went missing for over 28 days before his corpse was found, was killed by a hit-and-run driver in Abuja.

The House of Representatives was Salem’s beat for many years.

The speaker, who paid the visit in company with some lawmakers and his media team, signed the condolence register the corps opened in his name.

On hand to receive the Speaker, were the Chairman of the Corps, Grace Ike, other Exco members and members of the corps.

The speaker sympathised with the press corps, urging the members to accept the reality of the passing of the journalist as “the will of God.”

He stated, “He was a fine gentleman. Wherever he is now, I am sure he is resting.”

The speaker also extended his sympathies to Salem’s immediate family.
