NIS Pledges Support for EFCC in Fight against Corruption

The new Comptroller of Nigeria Immigration Service, Borno State Command, Comptroller Mohammed Sadiq Abubakar on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 pledged more support to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in combating economic and financial crimes in the country.

He made the pledge when he paid a courtesy visit to the Borno Command of the EFCC.
According to him, ‘‘I took the mantle of leadership as the Comptroller some months ago and I thought it was important for me and my team to visit the Maiduguri Zonal Commander of the EFCC as a way of improving the synergy between the two organizations in fighting corruption to a standstill in Nigeria. The efforts and commitments of the EFCC towards the fight against corruption cannot be overemphasized and we are mindful of the fact that the Commission cannot fight this menace alone which is why we have come to pledge our support and to seek cooperation from you to effectively and efficiently discharge our mandate,’’ he said.
The Maiduguri Zonal Commander of the EFCC, Onwukwe C. Obiora thanked the Comptroller and his team for the visit. He stated that the EFCC, from its inception has enjoyed collaboration and support from the NIS.
Obiora stressed the need for NIS to help verify the status International Non-Governmental Organization coming to Borno State for humanitarian purposes.
He assured that the EFCC will provide support to the NIS whenever the need arises.
