Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis held talks with visiting German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier here Friday on bilateral relations, the situation in Afghanistan and the COVID-19 pandemic, said the Czech Government Office.
Steinmeier and Babis also discussed economic affairs and the Czech presidency of the Council of the European Union that will begin next July.
Steinmeier visited the crypt of the Orthodox church in Prague’s Resslova street to pay homage to the Czechoslovak paratroopers who died there when fighting the Nazis after attacking and fatally wounding Bohemia-Moravia’s Deputy Reichsprotector Reinhard Heydrich in 1942.
Babis praised Steinmeier for honoring the late Czechoslovak paratroopers. “This is a strong gesture of friendship,” he wrote on Twitter.
During the visit, Steinmeier also met Czech President Milos Zeman and the heads of both houses of parliament. Enditem
