5.4 magnitude earthquake felt in Cyprus and Turkey

An earthquake was felt in several areas in Cyprus on Saturday afternoon.

The earthquake was felt at around 2.45 pm in several areas in Cyprus.


The Cyprus Seismological Centre said the earthquake was of magnitude 5.4 and its epicentre was reported at 130 km north of Polis Chrysochous and at a depth of 50 km.
People from various areas in the districts of Limassol, Nicosia, Paphos and Larnaca said they felt the shake. It was also felt in the north.
According to testimonials on the website of the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre, the earthquake was also felt in Rhodes, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon.
