Kidnappers kill abducted Army Colonel after payment of N10m ransom


A consultant gynaecologist in the Nigerian army medical corp, Colonel SB Onifade, who was abducted along the dreaded Abuja-Kaduna Expressway, September 27 2020 has been reportedly killed by his abductors despite a payment of N10million ransom.

The Colonel was abducted near Olam Farm area while traveling at night

The Nigerian Army had embarked on a discreet rescue operation for the officer, while negotiation for the ransom was ongoing.

The army is yet to issue a, statement on this

The Abuja-Kaduna expressway is notorious for kidnapping activities despite security patrol around the hotspots.

In April 2019, Inspector-General of Police Mohammed Adamu launched “Operation Puff Adder” to tackle banditry and kidnapping activities in Kogi, Katsina, Niger and Zamfara.

As part of the operation, police personnel were also massively deployed to secure the Abuja-Kaduna Highway.
