Minister of Health pays morale boosting working visit to NHIS

The Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire has paid a working visit to the Wuse II, Abuja Office and the Headquarters of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

He said the visit is long overdue and was being undertaken to come to encourage the Management and Staff of the organization.

He also relayed the often quoted maxim of President Muhammad Buhari, GCFR that if you want to get somewhere, run along, to get far, run very fast along.

He urged the NHIS management and staff to run and run very fast to attain their set goals.

Dr. Ehanire also urged the NHIS Chief Executive to invest in human capital development and to drive well and fast to ensure the health of Nigerians.

He admitted that everything has a price and that someone has to pay for good health for Nigerians to enjoy.

He said he was impressed by the Health Sector Reform presentation that NHIS came to present and he believed that the reform will leapfrog the reform of the health sector, build confidence and  trust of Nigerians in the health sector; the goal he said is universal health coverage and affordable health for all Nigerians.

Dr. Ehanire also urged NHIS not to forget to collaborate and work along with other healthcare agencies like the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA).

The Minister of Health also seized the opportunity of the visit to NHIS to sensitize about the National Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance Scheme (NEMSAS). Under NEMSAS scheme, he said not having money to  pay is no obstacle to receiving healthcare.
