Katsina youths protest renewed banditry

A group of youths on Thursday protested the renewed banditry on two Katsina villages of Sanawa and Dogon Ruwa in Mekera ward of Dutsin-ma Local Government Area.

The protesting youths barricaded the ever-busy Zankara–Katsina highway at Turare town, lamenting the worsening security situation in the area and some other villages in the state.

The youths, who were armed with placards and green leaves, chanted war songs, warning that they may be forced to act if the government failed to come to their rescue.

One of the protesters told newsmen that the protest was triggered by the fresh onslaught on the two villages.

He said the bandits rustled cattle and carted away other livestock the affected communities.

‘‘Residents of the affected villages who survived the attacks have since fled to Dutsin-ma, the headquarters of Dutsin-ma Local Government Area for safety”
