Rainstorm destroys houses, school in Badagry

At least 30 houses including a primary school have been damaged after heavy rainfall at Iragon-Iragbo community in Badagry.

The community witnessed extreme weather on Sunday which caused many buildings to partially collapse or have their roofs blown away.

According to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) a team has been deployed to ascertain the extent of the damage and identify number of persons displaced.

Director General of LASEMA, Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu said the prototype school in the community, St Patrick’s Primary School also suffered extensive damage.

“A number of homes have totally or partially collapsed while others had their roofs blown off by the heavy winds.

“We have dispatched a team to conduct an enumeration of damaged properties and displaced persons particularly elderly, women and children within the locality,” he said.
