Buhari greets Otunba Gbenga Onayiga at 60

President Muhammadu Buhari has joined the media industry in celebrating renowned journalist and former Vice President, Zone H, of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Otunba Gbenga Onayiga, who turns 60 on 23rd November 2019, congratulating him for worthy service to the nation and humanity.

The President felicitated with Otunba Onayiga’s family, friends and professional colleagues on the milestone, which has been signposted by many years of diligent work and lofty experience as a political correspondent and editor with the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, who masterfully reported on political events of the second, third and fourth republics.

President Buhari commended the veteran journalist for utilising the knowledge and wealth of experience gained over the years to serve the country, the church and international institutions, working variously as Chief Press Secretary, Diocesan Communicator, Abuja Diocese of the Anglican Communion, and serving on the Board of Nigerian Press Council and Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative.

The President urged Otunba Onayiga to draw inspiration from his many years of working and travelling across the country and the world to pursue his interest of contributing to the growth of the nation by mentoring upcoming journalists on the value of integrity, accuracy and balance in reporting, and most importantly, upholding patriotism.

President Buhari prayed for longer life, good health and more wisdom for the renowned journalist.
