Bayelsa Guber: David Lyon of APC wins Guber election after 20 years of PDP rule

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), David Lyon as won the Bayelsa state governorship election after 20 years of PDP rule.

The APC candidate defeated his closest rival, Duoye Diri, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Bayelsa state consists of eight local government areas including Brass, Ekeremo, Kolokuma/Opokuma, Nembe, Ogbia, Sagbama, Southern Ijaw and Yenagoa.

In total, APC polled 352,552 while PDP secured 143,170 votes, leaving a margin of 209,382.
