U-20 World Cup: Nigeria qualify for Round of 16 after 1-1 draw with Ukraine

The Flying Eagles of Nigeria have qualified for the Round of 16 of the ongoing FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland following their 1-1 draw against Ukraine on Thursday.

The Nigerian U-20 team qualified as best losers with four points.

In the other group match, USA defeated Qatar 1-0 and finished second in the group with six points, a point behind group leaders Ukraine.

Two of Africa’s three other representatives, Mali and Senegal, are poised to reach the knockout rounds.

Senegal top Group A after amassing six points from beating Tahiti and Colombia, while Mali perch in second place in Group E with four points after a draw with Panama and edging Saudi Arabia in a seven-goal thriller.

South Africa, after losses to Argentina and Korea Republic, are pointless in Group F.
